Case:
Solid American Toulipier wood made grandfather clock. All details carved are pieces of wood separate so to have a nice woodworking, finest glasspaper sending and varnishing even deep inside the carving. Bottom carving is made by carving out the rest of wood not needed from the block so the vens of wood are the same of the rest of the basement. Also all the floral recoration made of “3 points and one line” that we put all around the glasses has been glued one by one slowly during the finishing for a clear soft clock finish totally. Hand made glass bevelling all around by glass master Mr. Giovanni Casella. The door has a top wide arch for showing and so to stand out the magnificent clock dial arch and its 4 dancing figurines gold plated too. Side glasses and 2 side small doors for an easy access to the 16 notes custom made for that movement and then also brass colored. Behind the door we had prepared a junction to mantain the clock case stable even if large and tall and full of glass too. Uniquely made solid brass hinges by hidden wax system, so they allow the door to cover the front portion of the clock case by leaving a very small gap of air but while opening it, door comes outside the clock case and so do not touch the side big columnar! Finely if you try to push fast the door to close it does not arrive to touch and to crash to the clock case, because the air gap outside is such small that the air inside while exiting makes the door slow down!
Movement:
Original German mechanical movement from the company Kieninger, they do clock movements in the Black Forest since 1912 made of solid high thick brass large sized and shiny polished brass plates. It plays the 3 different long special chimes on 16 notes: Westminster chime, Ode to Joy Beethoven's and the Ave Maria Schubert's hourly. Then it plays one tone at 15 minutes, 2 tones at 30 minutes, and 3 tones at 45 minutes. Weekly wind by rotating the cranc key inside the 3 front holes at the dial instead of the chains in front of the pendulum. It also automatically may swap chime itself hourly. Very unique!! It has the small moonphase indication in the dial just over the numeral 6! It has the true second hand that makes 60 seconds per each minute properly as one pendulum swing left to right side is a second. It has the long lire pendulum and decorated big size weights all them German made by the Jaeckle company since 1888. Clock movement features: self oiling, self centring, self regulating and you may rotate minute hand counterclockwise trouble free. Moreover clock may not chime night time from 10pm untill 7.15am automatically. Finally the clock movement very specially has the 4 dancers at dial top that each rotates itself and goes inside out quartely while clock is chiming, as per the church in Mary plaza in Muechen, Germany.

Amazing American 30's real grandfather clock. It has been born in 1984 when the Polish-American designer Mr. Ed Karpinsky working for us in the High Point Furniture Market in North Carolina disigned that clock on several light transparent papers (still available at our own small museum in Sanguinetto Verona Italy) and said to us: any American east coast will take a clock home, if they have much money they will take a grandfather clock and if not much money they will take a small table clock model STR.02. After a few months we returned to the usa with the 2 models needed for being stably on that market. In fact the colons coming from Europe brought the “illuminated” technology and locally had any kind of wood too. Many homes since 1700 had 3 clocks, one grandfather one table one wall clock. Some american locally made by “Ansonia” for example and the richest people imported that from Germany and England. At the very begining the model was too much American, so during the years we mantained the exclusively craftmanship and we had adapted it to the different finishes by using the American Toulipier wood and before by developing the unique Kieninger dancer movement with 16 notes and the Jaeckle engraved painted dial with the small moonphase too.. Surely a limited edition grandafther clock because only our founder Mr. Antonio Altobel was able to transform a drawing in a real American table clock by using the requested high performed skills in doing it step by step, no machinery can help, that's real artisan piece of art in home, hierloom as did in the '30!
